MOLE & LESION ASSESSMENT
Mole & Skin Lesion Mapping and Assessment
Any mole or mark on your skin that’s new, changing, or simply worrying you deserves a proper clinical assessment rather than a guess. At Private Skin Clinic in Bromsgrove, Dr Sadhra examines lesions using dermoscopy — a handheld magnified imaging technique used to look closely at pigmented and other skin lesions — and builds an accurate photographic record of your skin.
What mole mapping involves
Mole mapping means photographing and cataloguing the moles and marks on your skin so that any future change in size, shape, colour or texture can be identified early, against a clear baseline rather than memory alone. You’ll receive a copy of your own dermoscopic images and mapping records, so you can monitor your skin between appointments and have something concrete to compare against at any future review, whether here or elsewhere.
If a lesion is benign
Where a lesion is assessed as benign, Dr Sadhra will explain the findings and, where appropriate, discuss treatment options — for example, cryotherapy for certain benign lesions such as skin tags or seborrhoeic keratoses.
If a lesion needs further investigation
Where a lesion shows features that could indicate skin cancer, you’ll be told about this clearly and without delay, and a letter will be sent directly to your NHS GP so that any referral or further investigation can be arranged promptly. Mole mapping doesn’t replace that referral pathway — its purpose is to help identify early when it’s needed.
